A habitable environment to live in and share with other living beings and the humans never ending quest for money…can the two ever co-exist?
What we have is a debacle.
Fuelled by the thread on overfishing, I put this to you – “When a target of worldwide significance such as controlling impacts of climate change and human contributions to the concept of global warming can the proverbial money gluttony continue?”
Sure it could continue but at what cost?
At what point will people be willing to say, for example, to a fisherman “I’m sorry. The fish are nearly all gone. We really don’t want a world without fish. If you stop now we might be able to save them. I know this is your livelihood, this is how you make a living – but even if we let you continue you will end up with none to catch anyhow” ??
When can we be content on having things like a universal ‘plain’ coloured carpet because we’d rather have that then chemical concoctions made to make it more aesthetically appealing and the implications of doing so?
Could we ever start to have positive relationships with our neighbours again to the point were you share things so each house in the block doesn’t need a personal copy of ‘Fight Club’ on DVD so they can feel like they aren’t materialistic? http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif)
At what stage will the worlds financially strong say “That’s enough for me” ??
Why do we live in a fast paced world that allows fast food places to literally throw processed livestock in the bin as an overhead? Whilst you buy a newspaper (your own copy…not say, a copy you share with the neighbours…) and shake your head at things that say how many livestock are farmed and the detrimental effect that this has on the Environment.
Kind of silly isn’t it? Your thoughts?
This stays here. It is not a Bitch and Moan. It is not a topic for Money Money Money.

Only after the last river has been poisoned
Only after the last fish has been caught
Only then will you find you cannot eat money
