So for my first car I'm getting my dads Prius.
I'd like to know if these cars actually are any better for the environment, and how much gpm it has.
Also, what are your opinions on them?
I like the way the Prius drives, very smooth and quiet butttttt-
It looks like a goddamn twinky car, I'm willing to bet someone is going to key me in the highschool parking lot.

You really need to get the efficiency figures and compare them.
The downside with them is, whichever motor you're not using (fuel, electric), is just dead weight.

Well it's not really a choice for me to make when it comes to getting the car, it's the prius or nothing.
I was just wonderin' what the pros and cons of it were.

Pros: Electric is efficient and quiet in town.
Cons: It's extra weight that's not doing anything once you're going fast enough to need the petrol motor.

i doubt hybrids are 'better'for the environment, a large % of the energy used is used in the manufacture and with something like a hybrid you have all the conventional metal which is mined using highly destructive techniques, plastics which come from oil and then you also have the massive batteries which use large amounts of metals and acids in them.
Your driving style also effects your mpg massivly. iv heard of prius owners getting 35mpg because they drive like crazy.
My opinion: save your cash and buy a much smaller car, a small diesel or petrol car can get 60-70mpg easily
note: everyone says how quiet it is but what happens when the person crossing the road infront of you can't hear it coming around the corner?
