I'd really like to know what you all think of this. I'm copying and pasting this from my blog:
I often lay in bed at night, mentally writhing under the blankets, void of the will and physical capability to walk downstairs to take a sleeping pill. It is in these moments that I take the time to think about things that make my head hurt. Last night, there was an ample supply of these moments, because my body, for some reason, decided not to let me sleep. So I was kept up last night contemplating my position on the existence of god. I'll say right now that I don't think he exists as an actual being. But he does so much good, apparently. And bad. Hear me out-
Weather or not he does exist, people are daily influenced by their belief of him. These people, unfortunately, are not always influenced in good ways. Wars have been caused, people have died, as a result of conflicting beliefs in god. Religion is the saving and failing grace of mankind, in that respect. Regardless of mankind's reliance on fairy tales to run their lives, I have concluded that there is undeniable proof that god, indeed, exists.
The fact that I said "God exists" states that he does. Let me explain, using a scenario.
You're walking down an empty street, under the magnificent night sky, possibly lost in thought. Suddenly, the peacefulness of the night's wind caressing you is snatched away, as you notice a peculiar smell. Puzzled, you take a giant sniff, seeing if you can identify it if you think about it more. No such luck. Then, you look around this empty street for something that you don't recognize, maybe something that could be producing this weird smell. You can't find it. Wondering what the hell is going on, you give up and go home.
God is the smell. You can't identify the smell as a physical, or even real thing, because there is nothing that could be making the smell. But it is there, because you smell it. Just as god is there, because you hear of his existence. Everyone is always "God this" "God that" and it is in these statements that lie all the proof you need to believe in the existence of god, as an IDEA. Nothing more. He obviously exists, because if he didn't then you would not know the term 'god' like you do. So the concept of god, in itself, proves his existence, but not as the creator of the world. Sorry if I got your hopes up.
Well, I'll leave you to it then.
Have a good one,
