In some areas of the world it is not allowed to say merry christmas but instead u must say happy holidays because it is not religious. And also the way some people celebrate the death of jesus byeating chocolate on easter. does anyone else find this kind of demeaning. please discuss

well anyway christmas is a pagan holiday
i don't care though you can say what you want. i mean the problem with people is that they think that they should never be offended. so they say "that offends me you can't do that" they should just be offended and live with it

Though I understand the intentions are to be humble and to eradicate the ego, I believe in order to progress on a global level and help to put nationalism, and ethnic prejudice on the low, sometimes its nice to inform people how to remain polite when dealing with those who have different ideas.

I see where you are coming from. People should always be polite, but not because it is a law, but because that is the right way to act. People should be raised to be polite. People can say to me "Merry Christmas" and I have said "Happy Buddha Day" to them and they don't care either. We are all just exercising our right to free speach, and to practice what religion we want. What gets me is all the propaganda on the TV for religion, I think they are going to far with that.
You are right people should be reminded to be polite. But, people also shouldn't be offended by little things. Saying Happy Holidays is fine with me, but what I am saying is people shouldn't be restricted to it.
The thread starter is a little weird. I celebrate Christmas with my family and they celebrate Buddha Day with me. Why? Because they want to. Holidays are ultimatly days of joy, to celebrate and remember something or someone that happened in history that was significant, or just to be together. It doesn't matter if you are Jewish, Catholic, Atheist, Islamic, Buddhist, Doaist, or what ever religion.

^^^ Thread starter might be refering to the overly political correctness sweeping some places.
Over the past few years in Aust, some kindergardens have been discouraged from holding Christmas plays because it could offend non-Christian parents. And last year there was some dick wad in the papers trying to get us to call a christmas tree a 'Holiday Tree' so not to offend people.
I honestly don't get this. If someone wishes me a 'Merry Christmas' or 'Happy Chanukah', I know that they mean well and aren't trying to offend me.

THe op is just a complete idiot kid who needs to spend more time in class and less on totse.
Seriously who is so delusional that they confuse WW1 and WW2 and even when several people confront him he refuses to beleive the truth. http://tinyurl.com/pjyoo
I mean religion, the 'facts' can be debated, history cannot be debated the way this kid does out of his own ignorance and refusal to accept he is wrong.
