View Full Version : A funny thought

Even though I follow no religion, I've wondered if that a heaven did exist to other people, then alright, there's a married couple, who've been married for a long time, and the wife dies, then obviously goes up to heaven or wherever, then eventually the spouse who is still alive, finds someone else on earth and they get married, when they both die then, the new couple that is, will the wife be reunited with her first dead husband, or will he ever see her again because she is with her new husband that she found on earth? Then the dead husband would get all sad because his wife found someone else and he has to deal with eternity alone. It is a thought that has plagued me forever, this thought though makes heaven less unbelievable.

The dead husband ends up getting 72 Virgins from Allah and stays dead happily ever after.

Hi Gackt,

the Sadducees asked Jesus a similar question.

quote:Mat 22:23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

Mat 22:24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

Mat 22:25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

Mat 22:26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

Mat 22:27 And last of all the woman died also.

Mat 22:28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

If you really have been plagued with your question AND you really would like an answer, then read Jesus' response to them here:

quote:Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

Mat 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Mat 22:31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

Mat 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

There are a lot of implications in these few verses, a few of which are; that the Sadducees did not believe in the Resurrection.. and also keep in mind that this was before Jesus had been crucified,

the Sadducees "knew" the Scriptures.. which was part of the reason that Jesus opened with, "Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures,"... in other words, He was reversing the challenge back at them.

There are more implications of this text, but hopefully this helps you to understand that your question does have answers.

Oh, BTW, in your post your also said,

quote:Then the dead husband would get all sad because his wife found someone else and he has to deal with eternity alone. It is a thought that has plagued me forever, this thought though makes heaven less unbelievable.

Why do you think that heaven would have loneliness or sadness?

I mean, an eternity in Heaven already implies an eternity with the Eternal, Loving God.

God Bless,

johnny

^^So you're saying as long as you have God, you don't need anyone else to be happy?

No, that's not quite what is said, but we can go that route if you want..

Let's say that only one person in all of history ended up in Heaven (and considering that only eight made it aboard the Ark or only Lot's family was righteous to be rescued from Sodom, it has a possibility),

that one person would be with the Infinite God.
