I know... I know, the article is very old.. but it is packed with good basics that still hold true.

Right now I am trying to STILL get stable net.. and one alternative is to use a 3' dish and try and mod the lnb (direct tv) to 2.4 Ghz.

I should then pick up wifi from several carriers (isp's)... that is, until I move to an even more secluded area.. then straight satellite will have to be an option, unless... I can form some sort of community wifi.. and/or resort to T1.

Internet over ShortWave and some variant of Bpl (BroadBand Over Power Lines), but utilizing the current WITHIN the lines, instead of riding the outside magnatism, as Bpl sets out to do, are still in the works, of course :)

A couple issues there, Halvy. I'm sure you'll be slapping your forehead when you realize you wrote 2.4 MHz instead of 2.4 GHz, for one thing... Also, it should be fairly easy to mod a normal satellite dish for 2.4GHz, as they're already designed for microwave use -- you just need to calculate the new focus position and place a normal 2.4GHz antenna there (you might need a 2.4 GHz bidirectional wifi amp, of course, depending on the location -- but then again you might not). I've read about this being done before.
