of a website or a group that sponsors trrips or organized events like habitat for humanity, mission trips,cleaning oil of baby seal etc. anything that i can get involved with to help make a difference in something

Surely there is something you can do in your own community, creating awareness of the air/water/soil quality, planting trees.
There's a landcare nursery in my town that has people collect seeds and grow new trees and shrubs and then sell the new trees/shrubs.

Type in "conservation expedition" into Google and you'll get sites like this (http://www.earthwatch.org/site/pp.asp?c=crLQK3PHLsF&b=470189) come up, amongst many others.
Bear in mind you usually have to pay them to do volunteer work, and it's not especially cheap. There is a list of activities they recommend to raise money, I know that's not the same as finding a sponsoring organisation, but I haven't heard of a body set up with that as their primary purpose.
Maybe some eco-maven can suggest something better?
