so how many of you have a compost bin at home?

ive got two big 1m length, lengths of pipe with a metal lid on it to compost.

whenever i mow the lawn, i put the grass clippings in there.

how many times should i turn over the waste in it?

I kept a compost heap at my last two homes, but there is nowhere to do it here.

Yeah we have one, I think it's silly not to unless you can't like Prometheus.

We used to have just a heap, as in, just piling up our stuff int the back corner of our yard. It got huge and me and my dad ended up shoveling it onto a trailer and taking it to a landcare nursery (volunteer gardening group). And now we have one of those black plastic ones with the lid and slits at the bottom you can open to getthe stuff from the bottom easy...that and the black plastic gets warm and brews the contents :p

I usually give it a turn every couple of days when I put new stuff in it.

My uncle has this wild composter. It's a big green cylinder with a hatch on it's side, and it's mounted on a frame so that it spins when you turn a crank, to turn over the contents. I've seen some rich stuff come out of that thing.

Yeah they rock, I think a company here sells them under the name 'the tumbler' or something.

ive got a nazi dad, and he doesnt like anything that isnt grass or concrete in the backyard.

but what i do is i have a large flowerpot with a drainage dish thing under it and i put veg scraps in there. from there, i either use that compost as it is, or i leach the minerals from it with water to fertilise plants
