So we know kettles waste a hell of a lot of electricity right?
Check this shit out....
On a morning when you boil your kettle make sure u fill it up, then grab a thermos flask and pour it all in. That way you will never need to boil the kettle again for the rest of the day as your flask will save the hot water :)

For British tea-guzzlers this may not be quite so environmentally beneficial as it first seems, which is why I quite like the look of this. (http://www.tefal.co.uk/tefal/products/product/index.asp?category%5Fid=400&dept%5Fid=430&sku=U00444&mscssid=MRXSGC3WR8M58PD3Q6DBB1PCHFEC30E6)
Unless somebody wants to do the definitive maths and work out the exact energy consumptions of 2-3 thermos flasks of boiled water vs. the same volume of water boiled using the product in the link.

I've found that a good thermos will keep liquid hot for up to 2 days.
As far as I can tell, the only energy savings would be that you're not reheating the container you're boiling the water in again.
Do what I do. Heat your water in a coffee pot. It's pretty damned fast and efficient, and doesn't lose much heat to steam. If you have one with the insulated carafe, you get the both of best worlds.
Though I will say, using gas for heating rather than electricity is more efficient, rather than converting fossil fuels to heat to electricity to heat.
