Why take a shit or piss in clean toilet water?

Kind of pointless?

Well i have an idea to create a toilet system which collects rain water to fill its tank with instead of fresh water.

Call me fussy, but I'd rather not have dirty water splashing up to my butthole when I take my morning poop.

That's what's known as a gray water system. They're becoming more and more popular. Even modern office buildings and a few skyscrapers are doing that.

I've thought of building one too. I figure the water tank from an old washer would have the capacity I need, and the fittings already on it. You will want a valve to switch over to fresh water if/when the tank runs out. Also good for watering grass and gardens.

You'd want it elevated. I think boards from discarded pallets would be good enough for supports.

Spillover valve for when it gets full. Maybe need to rerun your gutters.

Of course, if you actually want to spend some money, get a trough or a large water container from a farm supply store. I've seen ones at Tractor Supply Company that would be about perfect.

You will need a screen or something to keep out leaves. If you angle the screen, you won't have to clean it off as often.
