Please recommend Anime based on...

I don't know what the hell you people see in Champloo. I stopped watching after the episode where everyone got high and I haven't had an interest in picking it up again. Putting it in the same list with Cowboy Bebob and Trigun is WRONG. Terribly wrong.

The show is just lame. It's like they said "Oh shit, if we make a bland samurai anime... and THEN WE ADD BEAT BOXING... HOLY SHIT *spits out Champloo*".

EDIT: Oh and I'll say Black Lagoon. Definitely one of my favorite shows ever and not at all kid oriented (and there are no giant robots).

i enjoyed every minute of samurai champloo. except maybe that one episode with that big, gay dutch dude...

even that one was still kinda funny though.

the rest are all good recommendations. i'd go with something a bit older though like vampire hunter d and it's sequel or the original ghost in the shell.

it seems like anime's gotten more and more kawaiish over the years. i don't mind it so much as i have a weakness for cuteness and immaturity, but i'd definately like to see more grown up stuff.

The Cowboy Bebop episode "Toys in the Attic" was pretty similar. Hell, both animes are highly similar. Same number of episodes, both have a "wtf" episode, Spike & Mugen look very similar, same director, etc.
