okay, so this is an idea ive been playing with for a while now. Basically buying a luxury canvas tent wich would provide living room, bed, bathroom, etc. also electricity can be ran to these easily, and cheaply. i have not found a downfall to living in a luxery canvas tent yet, its green, cheap, and its just really nice. i'd like to learn more about living in canvas tents though. i dont know any good resources. any advice or tips of this subject? environment wise, i live in east texas.
even a normal canvas tent would be fine, its not hard to add flooring and whatnot like the luxury tents. also, what would be some alternitives to canvas tent living for about the same price? although i'd like to do the canvas tent living.

One day I'd like to buy a diesel van and have a bed in the back and drive around the country taking pictures and writing stories.
If I needed money I'd find a orchard and apply for work.
This probably isn't relevant :p
How would you cook? Would you have a BBQ or something? Canned beans and a fire? What about when nature calls?

Your going to find that living in a tent isnt that comfortable - and your going to have to pick the right place to live, the temperature variations, being able to get food, water and toilets mean that you might have to move around a little bit...
Luckily thats not too hard with a tent, but it is a pain in the ass.
Alot easier with a campervan, but are you planning to live in this thing and still work in a city or travel or what? I am confused as to the nature of your life, will it be one of leisure, one of growing food? i do not know.

tent life does not bother me, i see the "its not as easy as you think" thing alot, and i know this. as far as nature calling goes, ive got that covered -- basically i will be living in a tent outside of town limits (live in a small country town) and number 2 isnt a big deal, there is a local 24 hr gym with toilets/showers that stay extremely well maintained/cleaned. number 2's i can pretty much hold it with no discomfort. water would be ran to the tent (this isnt going to be a normal canvas tent, but a luxury canvas tent, a bit more expensive, but well worth it.) as far as weather goes, it stays pretty even around here, my biggest concern is the occasional storm with high winds, but shouldnt be a big deal. i'd love the experience that comes along with this, bad and good..and its an idea i have toyed with for a while in my head. i would like to live on my own, and this is would be good for me. also i would be able to partake in some green projects, like solar power and whatnot. i wouldnt be living in a tent far away from civilization, just enough to be in the woods, but if need be i will be able to easily get to town.
