I've always been a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy. They just fit.
I've been wanting to start dressing more business like, but not preppy polos and khaki shorts.
What I mean is I want to combine my style now, with what I would wear if I was in an office type environment, without looking like a total douche.
Tips?

But seriously, just wear an open sport coat, at least if you are looking for the casual office look. Stay away from ties, they will always look preppy. For pants: tan or black pants, with none of those pockets along the legs, since that ruins any professionalism.

If you must ask what to wear and for others to care how you look and dress you, no matter what you wear you wont pull it off. I dress how i feel comfortable, and let me tell you, i can conduct all and any sort of business that way.

I bet you would be very comfortable in this:

I'm asking for suggestions, if I don't like something, then I'm not going to wear it.
Fuggles contributed, and suggested a sports coat, which I have worn before, and can see myself wearing in a less formal environment.

actually man, i dont think i'd mind, oh and op, stay away from hats if you're dressin trendy. If you ask me, look at hendrix or srv and use bandanas
... ^^ Don't wear a bandanna in an office type environment. But I'm sure you have that common sense.
Long Sleeve button up shirts are always a bit more formal, and a big win in my opinion. Though spend a bit on them for a good fit (or buy a cheap-arse one and have it tailored to fit well). Don't tuck your shirt in (Unless you have to). Don't wear baggy anythings. You can get away with jeans, I think... But if you want to keep away from them get a nice fitted pair of pants (but not suit pants, they always look really douchey). And a NICE pair of shoes, whether they just be black leather, or something a bit trendier, depends on how you feel about it. You can't really go wrong with a nice pair of shoes. And if you're feeling daring, get a knitted vest, they can look really nice if done properly.

thats some good advice, but idk, you can get away with a lot of stuff, although you would look very flamboyant, so if you're not comfortable, don't do it. And um.....i have no clue on what else to say, i'll provide pics of what i mean real soon.

I don't get why you can't just start wearing polo shirts, they're smart enough?
If you're in high school, I assume you're talking about what you're going to be wearing to school every day. Not exactly an office environment.
Half of dressing "well" is knowing how to dress appropriate to the environment. I'd stay away from sports coats and look toward more casual (not even business casual) alternatives; there are plenty of stylish options.
With autumn coming up, get a pair or two of well fitting, darker toned jeans. If you leave near a Levi's store, they have every cut and color imaginable. And since just about all they do is denim, they stock more unusual sizes (for us lanky fellows, and for the overweight). You could get some dark, slim fitting slacks, but I find they're usually harder to pull off in the autumn and winter.
Get a good jacket for the fall, and a good coat for the winter. But keep it stylish. There's a lot of room for personal style here since just about every fashion label and clothing company makes outerwear and in a nearly infinite variations of cuts and styles. Personally, I have a khaki colored, "fatigue" cut, cotton jacket (Nautica) for the spring and late summer and an all wool, gray pea coat for the winter (where I go to school there is only a few months of autumn and its much more important to have a good winter coat). Outerwear is very important- if you spend a lot of time out people see it more than any other article of clothing, and it's the first thing seen when arriving somewhere.
Shoes are also very important, especially at your age (I'm assuming much hasn't changed in the last few years). Wearing a quality pair of shoes can really set your style apart from your peers'. Like outerwear, there are nearly limitless options. If you're going for a more respectable look, look for some good leather shoes. A lot of companies make great laceless leather shoes that are comfortable, classy, and look great with a pair of jeans or slacks. If you live near a Cole Haan store, you're set. Just a few things to keep in mind: when they start to look dirty or worn, just use some leather conditioner to freshen them up. Odor Eaters makes a great spray to keep the inside of the show fresh. Be careful in the snow, rock salt used to melt ice will seriously fuck up any shoe, you may want to invest in a stylish pair of snow boots.
Although you can mix and match shirts and other top pieces to create numerous outfits, they are generally simple. Regular shirts (heavy, long sleeves) are great, just shop around and find some you like. Likewise, get some sport shirts (stylish, well cut button downs) and find a nice sweater and/or vest.
You may want to pick up the book "Off the Cuff" by Carson Kressley. Its a really good starting point for most general sartorial questions.

I'm a tall guy too, 6'5'', and I'm glad you understand the struggle. Honestly, how often do you see a nice looking tall guy. You can wear great clothes, but the lankiness just doesn't pull it off.
I've got a black wool car coat, hits me mid-thigh. Looks very nice with jeans or slacks. (got it last winter)
I just bought a couple of vertical ribbed long sleeve shirts. I say they are shirts because the material isn't very thick.
I'm still looking for a pair of leather shoes in my size, 15, and was told I could mail order them.
I'm going shopping this next weekend, and will update on my purchases.

wearing a sport coat was mentioned earlier and i would just like to contribute this:
senior year this drama nerd type kid started wearing jeans, a t shirt, and a sport coat to school everyday. i mean everyday. why you may ask? because he was infatuated with the show "House" and that's how the title character dresses. it was quite dumb, and reminded me of when i had batman slip on shoes when i was 3-5 because i wanted to be like batman.
dressing well in high school can also depend on what type of person you are and what type of school you go to. dress too well in a ghetto ass school, you'll look like a toolbag, polos or not. i know what you mean about polos and douche baggery though. unfortunately they're associated with those types of kids and it's hard to shake it.
but to me a sports coat is too much for high school. the only people there that wore one was that one house kid i mentioned, and this cool math teacher in his 60s. shit like that doesn't fit in with the "i'm a high school student" thing. though it is still possible to dress nice for your age and not look like a hoodlum.
which reminds me how popular hoodies were. man, the year after i graduated they implemented a uniform policy. i can't even imagine having to deal with such bullshit.

obviously no one should wear the exact same thing every day, especially something that stands out like a sport coat. now, if someone wore batman shoes everyday, that would be awesome.
