My broadband got shut down and its gonna take 10 days for them to reactivate it (I have no idea why the fuck it takes that long) but I have shitloads of stuff to look up for college. My friend lives 2 doors down from me but his signal won't reach my house. My signal reaches his house though. I noticed the difference is my router has 2 antennas and his had none. I took one of mine off and screwed it onto his router but it only holds one antenna.

Since I took 1 antenna off my router I can't detect it from his house anymore. 1 antenna doesn't seem to be enough. Is there any way I can increase the range of his router? Like I said it only had one slot for an antenna so I screwed one on.

If I plugged my router into his phone line would it work? Its a different ISP. My ISP logo is on my router but his router just says dlink.

You'll get better luck in RFA, as they know more about boosting radio signals.

However, you could check out OpenWRT. If your router supports it, you could flash it on and then boost the broadcasting power.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna look into that for the future. I have no idea why but my internets working again. They kept telling me its impossible to get it up and running in less than 8 days but its working fine right now. I don't get how this stuff works. They say they have to activate broadband on my phone line and it takes 10 days but I'm connected through my router right now.

When you said "I screwed off the antenna" I couldn't tell if you were serious or not.

I still don't know. =/ I know nothing about that sort of thing, but to me breaking a piece of hardware (even if you unscrewed it in a proper way) does not seem to be a good idea.

Its more like the way your screw the wire for cable TV into the socket. Its made to screw on and off. I don't mean using a screwdriver.

Oh okay, that makes more sense. :)
