just got done watching the anime, havent seen the OVA yet though
is it worth reading the manga as well? ive heard several people say that the manga pwns the anime and vice versa

i've been meaning to, but i havn't read elfen lied yet. it's on my to-do list.
you usually get a lot more story out of a manga than a series. hellsing's is a pretty good example. in this case, i know that the elfen lied manga has more than 100 chapters and that the series barely covers half of it.
so yeah, it might be a good idear to read it. :)

The anime was short and sweet, and sad. It got the job done with just enough backstory and character development.
I read some of the magna, its alright but does seem to drag a bit sometimes, but it really fills in the gaps well, not to mention it has characters that weren't even in the anime.

Yes. The anime ending was filler. It didn't go down like that. The manga continues the story out further and makes the story superior. Has a much better ending as well. You can check it out on OneManga (http://www.onemanga.com/Elfen_Lied/).
