I went with the stainless steel band because I don't need the rubber for "tactical ops" or whatever people wear rubber bands for. It fits snugly enough and still looks great with the stainless steel band. I'm kind of kicking myself though because sleeping with a watch is a hundred times easier if it's got a rubber band. I love the dual-display, it's absolutely beautiful.
It's got a lot of nice features. Lacking in the three I really need (compass, altimeter, deep water resistance) but I've got another watch for that. This is more of a formal watch, but it's functional too (alarm, easy to read time and date, countdown, and a ballistic drop calculation I'll try out sometime).
For like 4 years now my parents have been buying me a watch for my birthday because the regular watches (~$100) would end up getting destroyed after being worn everyday. Hopefully this one will be different.
If anyone else is interested in a high-tech watch that will last at least 10 years, look here:

Very nice:D
Although I myself are more partial to simpler and more formal watches
you wear your watch when you're sleeping?

Not when I'm at home obviously.
I'm actually thinking of getting the rubber band to replace it, it would be more snug, but it wouldn't look as formal for wearing out.
The only gripe with the watch is that it doesn't come in a black colour. Otherwise it's perfect.
My Timex cost me $55 from WalMart. I just got it exchanged cuz the digital display froze. Otherwise, they're good watches. I remember I bought this (http://www.timex.ca/en/jcatalogca/Detail?item=048148964631) 7 or so years ago and it lasted me 5 years after which i lost it. I bet it's prolly somewhere, still ticking.

I hate seeing people with watches like this. Too big and chunky for my liking, but I suppose aesthetics is'nt what you're looking for. Why would you need Deep Water resistance

Scuba Diving? But I use a special watch just for that, this is more for everyday.

To me, watches like this practically scream "MY WEARER IS A TWELVE YEAR OLD!".
Too many buttons, too complicated to be useful, and still seems unsophisticated and annoying.
Just my tastes, I guess.

I recently picked up one of these. Needless to say, it's better than all of your time pieces combined.

Ahh I love watches like that, bigger and more buttons/features the better. :D

Do you use that SureShot calculator?
I've been meaning to give it a try but I haven't got around to it. Now that it's winter there should be chances for good shooting. Maybe I'll even head up to Labrador over the break.

That watch is ugly as hell. If you're looking for a durable and tactical watch, you should have gone with a Casio G-Shock, or for the money you spent, a Luminox Navy SEAL dive watch.

Because you're really tactical when you're endorsed by Jordan Sparks.
I wanted a analog watch that had digital capabilities. I found it all in my watch.
It has more features than the SEAL.
It's probably the best watch for the money out there.

I don't know about Jordan Sparks endorsing G-Shock, but most of the Marines I know wear something from the G-Shock line when we're in the field.
Your watch is only waterproof to 30 meters, meaning that it's not really water proof at all. I wouldn't consider this watch at all when thinking "tactical." It has a corny digital display and a metal bracelet.

I don't like the thin strap.
This is the nicest watch I've ever seen. So I bought it. ~$300

I've owned two different Nixon watches, and both broke within a year.
Honestly, if you want utility, buy a Casio and save yourself money, if you want class, pay a similar amount and get an Emporio Armani.
