Greetings everyone!

This lazy cat that i know is playing around with oils as of lately, but he has encountered some problems.

"Synthesis of DMMDA-2, 6-Br-DMMDA-2 and DMMDMA-2 By Antibody2"
ref: http://designer-drugs.com/pte/12.162.180.114/dcd/chemistry/dmmdma-2.html

You will notice that he uses Indian Dill Seed Oil (Anethum sowa robx.) after d-Carvone had been removed for the flavouring industry

I have two questions for you ( and believe if have searched the Internet but my searching has not been proven very fruitful!:

1) This cat has access to Anethum graveolens seed oil, judging by the name its in the same species, but i can't seem to find info if it contains any dillapiole! help :(

2) He mentions the removals of d-Carvone, i am assuming this is done by vacuum distillation? Since:

d-Carvone: 230 C

ref: http://mc2.cchem.berkeley.edu/smells/d-Carvone.html

and

dillapiole: 285 C

May be helpful, may not - I accept no responsibility in the event that you have seen all these and curse my very name for rudely and stupidly wasting your time... ;)

The major component was carvone (55.2%) followed by limonene (16.6%), dill apiole (14.4%), and linalool (3.7%).

I didn't read it entirely, but the above quote is from the abstract.

http://www.essentialoils.co.za/essential-oils/dill.htm

The main chemical components of dill oil are d-carvone, dillapiol, dhc, eugenol, limonene, terpinene and myristicin.

We therefore do at least know that there's most probably dillapiole in there, but quantities is probably harder to work out.

Hmmm...

Indian dill seed oil is distinguished from the European oil byt the presence of dillapiol in the former and its almost total absence in the latter. The chemical composition of Indian dill seed oil (incorrectly identified as Anethum graveolens) was investigated...........dillapiol (52.5%)

What the second book is saying is that there is dillapiol in Indian dill seed oil, but not in European dill seed oil.

Indian dill seed oil is reported to have a 52.5% dillapiol content in that second book, while the European stuff only has trace amounts.

This.

But then it confused me by saying "Incorrectly identified as Anethum graveolens", so I'm unsure as to precisely what they are saying...

Ah fuck, this is confusing :s

Anyone has got more info? I looked at the library for books about plants, but no luck yet :(
