I want to take a girl out, I don't have any real good semi-formal shirts though I'm still comfortable in my skate and surf t-shirts.

But she's special :) So I want to put effort into looking a bit more presentable for her. Any suggestions for what I can get? I don't want to totally step away from that style so think skate brands trying to do regular shirts.

What's in at the moment? Plain? Colors? Polo?

And what should I combine it with. I do want to look good and appear to put more effort into it than I would usually, show that I care that much...or some shit :p

Wrist chain? Neck chain? Ring?

Pants? Shoes?

Fuck I dunno, I'm an average build, short with stringy brown hair.

Just help me out. Street punk dolling himself up basically without overdoing it and betraying who I am.

Thanks

It would help if we know where you're taking her out, dinner? cinema? bowling? You're going to have to 'betray who you are' if you're wanting to get anywhere, I mean, going out for dinner or whatever in a skate t-shirt? Let's put it this way, it's far better to be over dressed than under dressed. If you're going out to dinner go all out with smart pointy (polished) shoes, smart trousers, shirt and tie/cardigan/smart jacket. If you're wanting to look smart/casual I would say wear black shoes, smart grey trousers and a plain Black t-shirt.

I'm liking military shirts. Look good on the skinny guys and seem less formal than polos (to me at least).

Go with a polo and khakis or chinos. Maybe some gray or black slacks. Either way, just make sure you have a decent color combo, no black on black, etc.

Light blue polo with khakis is a good, classic, refined look. Or black polo and khakis. Black and gray also looks alright. If those aren't your thing, just do a polo and somewhat nice jeans. However, jeans wouldn't fly in most upscale restaurants, you'll be getting some funny looks.

As for shoes, ditch skate shoes. Converse, slip on vans, or loafers work. Brown loafers with chinos, black loafers/shoes with gray or black pants.

I actually want to buy a pair of yellow cons and green and then i have like 4 pairs of shoes green, yellow, green-yellow, and yellow-green...something like that, maybe black and white!, black pants and white shirt, black glasses, white hat

I reckon she'd dig that...

Converse? Slip on vans? Are you people fucking kidding me? I would really like to see how you people dress.

You should just be yourself on the first date. I'm not really sure how you dress, but I would either go with a Polo brand shirt with a white undershirt underneath, with blue jeans/khakis and brown loafers. Or, I would go with a simple button up long sleeve from Gap or Express, with jeans/khakis and brown loafers. You can always roll the sleeves up halfway up your arm for a more casual look, or if it's still warm where you live.

Note: Khaki pants without cargo pockets. Make sure your belt matches your shoes, and don't wear any jewelry except for a watch if you'd like.

I wear etnie skate shoes, medium to dark blue jeans, and whatever shirt I think looks good (t-shirts). I have some proper 'shirts' with collars and shit but I feel like I'm going into the office wearing that stuff, have a DC shoe Co collared shirt, it's good but I've worn it too much I reckon.

What can I say? I don't like wearing a piece of dead cow on my feet...And long sleeve shirts piss me off.

As far as shoes, those old school vans that are like the lace-up version of those slip-ons look decent and casual.
