do they exist? my searches turn up only torrents without confirmations, i want to play the new prince of Persia, street fighters series, metal gear solid franchise. I found a way to play with a ps3 controller on t he computer, so i figure that would enable me to play the games the way they were meant to be played? but can one get these games on torrents for the computer? where would one go about getting it? if its against the rules to ask this then please feel free to close it, BUT if you know and its closed, please private message it to me.

Removed Talk of Torrent

[my logic is since this is all about video game emulation it belongs here and not IFIOTW]

Does it really hurt to read over what you type before you post?

my mistake, i laughed when i read it again after reading your comment, please forgive the 260 error and any grammatical errors i made as well. Was just very manic while typing and wanted to thrust the message into the world and get my answer as quickly as possible. now please help, rather than just wasting my time for nothing but flaming over spelling.

No and torrent talk is no-no also.

No no no no no no no. Console emulation requires something like 2-3 times(not sure, probably more) the processing power of the original console. So if you want to emulate a ps3, Go combine 3 ps3's into a super computer and then run your emulator.

A PS3 emulator? Yeah, maybe in 10 years.

Not even NASA computers could run a PS3 emulator, to solve your questions.

i believe you, but any idea what the logic behind this is? why would it take 3 times the power to run the same thing?

ZOMG SEED PLZ.

thanks guys, i guess i should just wait a few years and continue living in the non-videogame world (i was really looking forward to holing up in my cave for 3 months and playing the newer gen games until i am whiter than salt).

a PS3 emulator would require one hell of a fucking CPU; and I hope you realized before hand that MGS4 would be well over a 50GB file, if any of this were even possible.

It is quite possible since all the games are coded on computers. They have a PSP emulator that plays at full speed, only developers have it however. They still haven't perfected ps2 emulation yet and probably will never bother with the original xbox so you are out of luck.

i would EASILY give up 1/10th of my space to play MGS4. The computers already exist, they are just too expensive for the average enthusiast to ever get their hands on. I guess until then i'm going to have to play my pirated copy of bioshock, dynasty warriors and any street fighter i can get my hands on via pas3 controller on computer, oh and maybe I'll get a wiimote and use that on the PC (because i KNOW there are emulators for wii having seen them before).

hmmm, i guess ps2 is the most advanced i can get right now *starts looking for ISOs of Okami*. Also, long hair is not a mullet.

Keep livin' the dream, man.

As for why it takes a lot more power to emulate a system, it's because the architecture is so different. It'd be like the difference between talking to someone in your native language and someone in another language. Your brain has to think 'well this word means this in English and this word mean this etc' so it takes longer to process.
Yeah that was kind of a shitty explanation, forgive-a-ness please.

GameInformer did an article about how NASA ran Crysis, but, it crashed their Cray.

"Scientists at NASA's John F. Kennedy Space center have revealed that theyare extremely close to accomplishing what experts once thought to be impossible: running EA;s PC shooter Crysis at maximum settings. Using a custom built Cray XT3 Opteron supercomputer, NASA's engineers, in partnership with a team of students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, claim to to have actually run the game at full capacity for 10 minutes before a total fatal system crash. "It's been hard," comments NASA project lead James Ferguson, "but challenges like this are why we do what we do. Hearing everyone applaud in the control room when we got the first level up and running was a feeling I'll never forget. This has been a real journey for the whole team...even a few months ago we weren't able to put the sliders up past half before it crippled the system. Now we're playing for five, ten minutes at a time at full resolution with no demonstrative frame lag."

lies. all lies. the xbox360 is basically a computer thats limited to playing games. it can and will be done eventually. I have plenty of doubts that it would need a supercomputer to emulate one.

Yeah there is. Last time I checked (more than a year ago) it wasn't so awesome though.
