Seen Caucasians in general with them b4, whites from puerto rico/ aussie land.
Some white folks pull it off quite well. Guy at the local head shop comes to mind, but it only looks right as far as I've seen with a dirty blonde or light brown hair colour.

White guys with dreads generally look shit. But what's worse is the white guy with dreads mentality. Generally they will be image conscious hippies that wanna look the part and talk the part. Guys that have a best of bob Marley CD and say they are into reggae. Or that love to talk about how much they care for nature but drive a gas munching car a few blocks just to pick up some weed so they can sit and smoke all night watching Family or some shit.

Yeah sure....anybody can have dreads.
Just think about it, people will look at you differently. They will think you're some dirty hippie who smoke "dope" all day long and bunch other bullshits they would come up with. They also will ask you shitload of questions about your hairstyle and they will talk shit to you such as "GET A HAIRCUT, FUCKING HIPPY" or "WTF GET AWAY FROM ME, YOU DIRTY FUCK!"
If you work in a restaurant...I'd advise you to not get dread or quit your job.
Dreads are VERY easy to take care of....YES, you HAVE to wash them every 3-5 days.
The best thing about having dread, you won't ever need to comb them. The shampoo are very very very cheap (Dr.Bonner brand) and it last for 7-8 months per bottle.

Oh another thing....DO NOT USE WAX! That shit will make your dread smelly/moldy and load load of negative sides.
Go natural....it's the best way to go for it. Natural dreads will take year or two to look good.

Personally, I find dreadlocks really, really attractive. But that's just my two cents.

how can i tell if i can pull it off? my hair is thick and dark like a chocolate brown. are there certain features that would not look good with dreads? (besides being white lol)

Dont worry about it. Dreads are wonderful for just about anyone, probably most everyone, unless your ugly to begin with anyway. And if you follow the natural locking process youll find its about much more than ascetics anyway....

A pot dealer of mine just started doing this and he looks really cool.
But, keep in mind that he is a pot dealer and everyone knows that he sells weed. This could add to it being cool and acceptable.
If you aren't a stoner I wouldn't try it.

There's a kid at my school who's white with bblonde dreads. Everyone makes fun of him.....he's always called goldylocks.
White kid with blonde dreeds=fail.
wihte kid w/ black hair dreads=maybe
I say go for it. Ignore people who say only black people can pull it off - white people have had dreadlocks for 1000s of years - Celts, Vikings etc etc.

Why the fuck not? It's a damn hairstyle. My friend's brother used to have dreads (black hair) and he pulled it off fine. He wasn't even a real big stoner AND he worked at a restaurant. He reminded me of that guy in Children of Men, but his weren't blonde.

I've had dreads for two and a half years and im white. My hair is a really dark brown and its near shoulder length.
I have always been wary over the fact that some people think only black people can pull it off. But really it is nothing to do with skin color, i think its more to do with how your face looks. Seriously, i have seen other white people pull it off and some it looks a bit rediculous. Its down to wether it suits you or not.
So of course i may sound bias if i say they suit me, but ive never had anyone say they didnt, ive only heard compliments. heres hoping anyway..

I've got em :) .. had em for a few months now, still not quite locked in fully but certainly getting there ..
And they're really as high maintenance as you want them to be; on one end you can be worried about every single loose hair and getting them all exactly the same size while on the other end you can just do nothing at all to your hair and it'll form in a year or two ..
