hi?

What is the exact difference between these two kinds of jacket? A friend showed me his bomber jacket once but I couldn't tell the difference.

Is the bomber jacket shorter?

Slightly shorter and is elastic arond the waist and cuff.

Don't let that image put you off though, they do come in different styles and 'genres' of clothing.

Personally I love the proper leather bomber jackets like this one;

Just don't know what I'd wear it with, because it's quite different from my usual style - trainers / cat boots, polo shirt, slim jeans / tracksuit bottoms, flat cap.
Any suggestions anyone?

Classic sneakers like keds/converse/purcells in white preferably; if you're gonna wear sneakers.
All kinds of boots work as well, likely even your caterpillars. You'll have to be a judge on whether or not the colors clash, (i.e. I generally wouldn't wear my black Docs with a brown bomber, but an oxblood or certain shades of brown would work nice)

Slim/skinny jeans look best. Colors pretty much up to you, I like super-dark blue denim, but I've seen friends pull off stuff as adventurous as white jeans with a bomber.

I like wearing a nice zip up hoodie underneath for a more casual look.

For a more mature look, especially when it's cold, I like a wool sweater with a bright scarf, all under the bomber of course. The scarf looks nice when you zip the bomber up most of the way and some of the scarf is sitting out the top of the neck if you know what I mean.

I'd stop wearing tracksuit anything except on the track...

Cheers for the advice, I guess I could make it work with what I usually wear afterall :)

The tracksuit bottoms are for casual days.

The difference is jackets are from a wide variety of styles ie. rain jackets, leather jackets, coats, smart jackets, casual jackets and so on whereas bomber jackets are one type of style (Mainly being a puffy jacket with enclosed ends so wind does'nt get into it) and were popular back in the 90s. They were origionally designed for pilots to keep warm in cold cockpits in the 2nd world war. Hence 'bomber jacket'.
