xbox 360 transfer Kit

Is there anyway to do it besides getting another 360 (mine red ringed and warranty is up) and the transfer kit? My friend got an elite as well and still uses his old HDD, but doesnt have a transfer kit, but is there any other way to do it? Or do we have to buy one?

I have one of these. You can basically use your PC as an extra hard drive,so you can move all your shit to the PC then onto other hard drives.

i saw that but wasnt to sure about it. Hows it work? you just plug in your old hard drive to the 360, transfer to PC and then transfer it to new hard drive?

Works great. It's just this little circuit board thing that plugs into your 360 hard drive and then into the 360 hard drive slot. So basically it gets sandwiched between the hard drive and the 360 and plugs into both. Then on the back of that,there's a little slot for a USB cord. One end plugs into the adapter,the other into a USB slot on your computer. Then there's a program that comes with it to look through your 360 hard drive like folders and whatnot. You can click "back up hard drive" and it'll back the entire thing up to a file on your computer in about 30 minutes. Then,you can hit "restore hard drive" and use that file to basically replicate your hard drive onto another one.

You can also transfer videos,demos,game saves and other stuff to the PC for backing up and sharing if you want. I use it for game saves to get LULZ from all the kids who get pissed when I have like 100 kills and have achievements for like 90k kills. I used to boost gamerscore,but I couldn't give a fuck about it anymore.

With Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead, you can also use this to transfer a modified player settings file with sv_cheats enabled.

uhh the official kit is free from microsoft.... so your getting ripped off. =]

But yeah, ill probly look into buying this. Is it only available online? Or can I get it somewhere else, like bestbuy, walmart, gamestop etc..

It's not a tool like the Microsoft transfer kit. It doesnt just move stuff from one HD to another,it connects and uses your PC as one giant hub to move data between numerous Xbox HDs. You can backup a whole HD to the pc,or just move over 10 demos you have and shift them to another HD.

I got mine at an EB Games,but that was like 2 years ago. You might be able to find it there.
