Hello,
I recently got a PSP w/ a 1GB mem card. Does anybody have any idea how or where I can get tools for it, ie: nmap, metasploit, nessus, etc:confused:

Shit, what does the PSP run?
If it's a UNIX-type, I'm sure nmap will compile on it, and it probably has a ruby runtime for metasploit. If you put GNU/Linux on it, all of those tools will work. Not sure how you'd use them, though.

Thanks Prometheum, It sounds possible, but the software is probably not UNIX type.
I've never tested this myself, but you can definitely install GNU/Linux on the PSP. I just found a guide for dual booting the firmware, so in theory, with a bit of tweaking, I imagine you could get a linux distro as a boot option.

Thanks,
Um, it would work, but I have FW 4?
But thanks any way:)

As with most devices, you will need to downgrade to an earlier firmware in order to carry out any hacks.

That guide I posted, gives instructions on how to multi-boot. That way you can have your custom hacks on firmware 1.1(guessing that's the firmware required), and still have version 4, for all the Sony updates.
Version 1.1 will be required in order to install 3rd party apps, however you may still want version 4.0 as well, so ^^^.
I got GNU/Linux running on one of the brick iPods, (the ones that actually had real memory in them). So a PSP shouldn't be a problem.

This guide looks alright, I suggest carrying out the other one first though. Will be better in the long run.
As far as all that software they tell you to buy is concerned, free alternatives are readily available.

Thanks wargasm, it's nice to have an intelligent semi-conversation.:D

No problem. It's also nice to see that, despite me mis-spelling my username on registration, everyone who quotes me seems to spell it the right way. :)

That's because, let's face it wargsm, if your name was wargasm, it would easily rank among the best handles ever.
And that includes Nigger Lord Cum Master Excellent.
