Is installing rockbox on my ipod worth it?

I'm considering installing it on my 5.5 g ipod but what can I expect in terms of inprovements? will there be drag and drop? if it doesn't work out I have a 2 year warranty so I could just throw it against my bed till the hard drive breaks but is it really worth it?

Why the fuck would you break your ipod..
rockbox is just firmware, is it not? It doesn't give your ipod magical features.
So format/use the ipod reset tool if you want to change it back.

Try it, see if you like it.
If not do what I said about 3 lines up.

As for improvements, read the FAQ, forums, and wiki dedicated to rockbox, I'm sure it can tell you as much and more then anyone here.

Not really sure if I said everything I meant too.

goodluck

Rockbox adds in software EQ thats better than stock and supports more formats than aac and wmv like flac and vorbis.

I would have already put it on my Touch but its not supported.

ok quick question I understand that this may be answered on another site, but will I be able to dual boot rockbox along side the ipod os? (i ask this because I would still like to use it with the ipod peripherals)

Actually, you can.

Mine's set up so it boots into Rockbox by default, but to boot into regular iPod firmware you just have to hold down the center button...

I just have to put the hold on and it goes into Apple OS.

Thats neat I guess. Silly, but neat. There really shouldnt be any reason why you would need to use the Apple firmware over rockbox unless a brand new peripherral was just released and drivers havent been made yet.

I was looking into this but one Q came to mind. Will I have to put all my music back on? Being that I manually manage my music, the files are located on about 3 different computers.
