Rifle kits

Ok, well I searched past threads a bit, and couldn't really find what I was looking for, so I decided to just ask.

I am looking for an AK-47 rifle parts kit. Prefer 7.62x39 but .223 would work as well. I would like to buy a kit online on the cheap, and then just order whatever minor parts are missing from the kit, like the plate etc...

I've checked some of the gun auction sites, but was hoping for somewhere with more selection. So I was hoping that I was missing something, and maybe one of you guys could help point me in the right direction.

I wanted to do this years ago, and just haven't been able to, and now, unarmed, and with a new baby, living in a fairly bad area, I think it is time that I arm myself once again. There was a 4 year old child stolen from his home and chopped up a half mile from where I live this month. For no fucking reason.

So this, among other things, has prompted me to arm myself, and from what I remember about part kits, this would be the easiest cheapest and most reliable way I can go. And I don't have to fuck with registering that shit, which has always bothered me.

I've read something about part kits being banned soon, but still see them around.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Nodak Spud makes good AK recievers.

Krebs will sell you very nice parts kits.

Or you could pick up the reciever and a Romanian kit and be out less than 200 bucks.

I certainley hope not, I would rather like to put together a semi-auto AK clone before the year is out.

EDIT:
I'm gonna get on that right now, can someone post good links for parts kits, 80% recievers, compliance kits, etc.? The ones I found are crappy/overpriced.

Tapco has compliance parts.

www.jgsales.com has (had?) Romanian kits, the kind with the forward wooden pistol-grip handguard.

Nodak has recievers. Rguns.com has (had) flats and such.

I hope that helps. AK's are fairly easy to build as well as cheep. Find yourself an 80% reciever, add the automatic parts, drill a few holes, cut a few slots, and you'll have yourself a find home defense weapon. Parts are cheap as shit so if you do fuck something up on it, which would be hard, you can replace them easily. Personally I wouldnt recommend it as a defense weapon (I'd rather have a cheap 357 revolver), because if you do use it, you'll end up in deep shit, but Im not the BATF so I dont tell people what to do. Good luck man, be safe, and dont let off the trigger till it clicks.

I'm sorry, but making select-fire AK's takes more than just that.

I'd prefer you all build legal semi-automatic AK's with the proper number of 922r compliance parts. Oh, and I'd prefer not refering to illegal procedures, especially when you're not intimately familiar with the necessary processes involved and risks.

wait a minute.

Are replacement parts covered by the Kaliförnia AWB?

Yeah, sorry man, I just wasn't able to find any good places really. All of you have been an immense help, and I will be setting out some ideas and plans very soon.
