can people tell me how the catholic society views capital punishment and/or euthanasia i need it for a assessment thanks BOB |
For all I know they probably support it.

Catholics believe that it is a sin to take someone life. That includes a doctor. Euthanasia and physician assisted suicide are totally different. I believe that most catholics are against both, although p.a.s is more "moral". When doctors are being educated they take a hypocratic oath which basically says that they will not purposely take a life of a patient, so euthanasia and p.a.s(physician assisted suicide) goes against the Hypocratic Oath. That is a common argument amongst people against euthanasia. Under many religions it is a sin to take a life even in pity matters, so for the highly religious, regardless of which religion they follow,it is against their beliefs.
As for capital punishment, i think the same basic beliefs apply. |
