http://textfiles.com/directory.html This is an excellent bit of internet history. You can see text files written 30 years ago on this site. Stay on it long enough and you'll go far down the rabbit hole. I found these two articles written by our old admin Jeff Hunter. http://textfiles.com/bbs/bbsrev...

archive.org in general has a nice variety of novelties, just don't start putting fresh warez onto it and it's all good.
I tend to use it for books, the loaning book function is amazing to get DRM'd books to then DeDRM them.

Taking a shit counts are a valid excuse.
.You should implement a 'last request' policy on which the 'ONLINE' status is based off, I am sure phpBB can do that, else if it behaves strangely give the phpBB forums a whirl and see if you can get anything useful from those folks.

I'd hope so too, it only makes sense to do so. But it's much like the punk scene, where people newer to the scene are called posers despite anything that they do. Best thing to do is just to consider it a part of it, and not care about old-people who yell at you for not playing 'real retro-games', t...

I think the definition will slowly shift as more of the people who were active in the retro scene over the last handful of years start fading out too, and other folks pick up the torch from that point. Who know, maybe PC systems in broad terms are gonna become full on retro over the next couple years.

Down at the left sidebard in the links, there is IRC chat listed. But the IRC network that it connects to is down. Isn't it a good idea to just pop on a IRC server next to the hosting of this site?
Or did the IRC channel not get any traffic to begin with...?
