So there have been a bunch of mini retro consoles coming out and the commodore 64 was one of them. The only problem with the c64 min was it was shit and ass. The keyboard didn't work and the thing was generally cheap and shitty. Enter TheC64 maxi, a retro console that is a full sized commodore 64 reproduction. Not only do the keys work on the keyboard, but it is fitted with an HDMI port and 3? USB ports. It seems to be a faithful reproduction of the original in almost every way.

Expensive yes, but faithful in it's reproduction. If you like old retro shit, this is a good buy.

I never really understood what's so hard about releasing the EXACT SAME THING with only the errors fixed, and a few tech related upgrades.

Like, Fuck the NES/SNES Mini, re-release original hardware with better heat syncs, better caps, et cetera and HDMI/Component support. Instead of fighting piracy they could make reasons for us to pay for 30 year old programming.

I asked the same question. Turns out along with ownership rights that Nintendo/Sega/ect don't have anymore on certain games, factories aren't outfitted to build old tech like that anymore. It would just be too expensive to retrofit factories for the job. That's why all these retro consoles that are coming out are just basically pi boards running on proprietary emulators.

Okay, but they don't have to re-release the GAMES per say, and many of the good ones still have active IP holders that very well could be willing to cut a deal to make more money for literally no extra work. As far as factories, there's no way the molds aren't sitting stored away somewhere considering they cost several hundred thousand dollars to make and is only a couple hundred dollars worth of aluminium.
