I've been watching videos on melting copper wire in a crucible. Where are good places to find copper? So far I can only think of stripping wires for copper and copper piping which is often stolen before I can get to it.

Some old electronics aren't a terrible source. Dryers have a lot of thick copper wire in them, plus you can sell the knobs for like $5 a piece, the motor for $30, and scrap the shell and drum.
