raspberry pi

Even another reason why I want a Raspberry Pi. I've been wanting to get one and tinker around with it. Just haven't had the time. At first I just thought that this is the "transistor radio kit" for a new generation. My thoughts on that have changed a little. It is still a cool DIY project, but it is capable of so much more. Has anyone done anything cool with a raspberry pi? I would love to hear about what you have done with it.

retro console images are pretty strong with the pis. Also I've made a pi hole for my home network. The earlier consoles work pretty well on the pi. Once you get to the later gens like the 64 or the ps1 it starts to break down. I think that's more a coding problem then a hardware problem. If you do decide to emulate the newer gen consoles, make sure you get heat sinks and maybe even a fan. They get hot.

No, but they have interested me for some time, especially after the pi86 dropped. I've felt for a while like a pi would make a good IRC/Email server and that with the right configuration I could send one out to a few trusted people around the country and have a pretty reliable IRC network.

TL/DR: The low cost makes them seem like an attractive server option for lighter tasks.
