A slice of internet history

The Technophiliacs forum is for discussing any and all forms of tech and other types of social backwardness. Including discussions of strange home-brewed hardware technology. Where to get good tools. How to make fiberglass molds. Computer hardware and software technolgy, including operating systems, applications, networking, hardware, CPU's, disk drives, and other geeky things. Viruses and Artificial Life discussions. End user tools discussions and support issues. Gating the Internet with other nets.

A slice of internet history

Post by Das Troll » Fri Sep 27, 2019 10:36 am

http://textfiles.com/directory.html

This is an excellent bit of internet history. You can see text files written 30 years ago on this site. Stay on it long enough and you'll go far down the rabbit hole. I found these two articles written by our old admin Jeff Hunter.

http://textfiles.com/bbs/bbsrev.ans

And right below that a .anc file which you have to download for some reason. I assume it's ASCII art. In case you ever wondered where &Totse was located, this file has the old number and location, &TOTSE 510-935-5845 9600 RA 1.11+ Walnut Creek, CA. Get ready to jump in the way back machine.

Absolutely. The text files originally brought me to Totse as well, and I was still reading them right up to the day it closed. Some of that erotica was VERY well written, and I'm sad I never submitted the shit I wrote back in the day.
