Around this time every year my thoughts go adrift. Thought I'd write a poem about it.



It'll be eleven years, wow
Crazy when I say it aloud
If only I could see you now
Would you be proud
Of the woman I've become?
The struggles I've overcome?
What would you say?
It eats me to this day.
I'll never again see your face
It's ephemeral lines a blur
Your voice just a wave
Adrift in space

It won't be 11 years for another 6 days

It won't be 11 years until next month. And I said "it'll be" not "it is" seeing as how I'm aware it isn't Feb 15th yet

Oh, right, it's still only January.
