DEcreased swap space

Post by Enigma » Thu Jun 27, 2019 1:20 pm

Had a sort of obnoxiously large amount of swap assigned which was ultimately causing major system slowdown and occasional need to reboot. Decreased it to a regular amount, and things should be faster, but there's never enough of you online ever to really bench test these kinds of things

Keep note of how it grows overtime, you might have some shitty RAM leak if it gradually fills up and slows everything down

It stemmed from a non-existent understanding of SWAP based on how thing were 20 years ago when I skimmed an article on it. I had it set obscenely high (think over 100 gigs) so programs with memory leaks like Firefox would eventually kill my computer.
