thumbs down reCaptcha

Post by Enigma » Thu Jul 18, 2019 5:32 pm

Shit's dumb and obviously not working. Put Q&A back on for now until I find a better solution.

Luckily I use a widely supported software, so I just have to research which solution will be best, rather than depend on the members here to code something for me. Unlike Lanny, I admit I can't code.

So I think I found a pretty good solution that will work for now. It basically approves/denies registration requests based on certain criteria, and even after the account is registered it monitors the first few posts for bot-like activity and will remove the spammy posts and ban the account.

Things it looks for:
- Obvious bot locations
- Throwaway emails
- Excessive link posting in the first few posts

Also, as a side note: It's blocked 26 registration attempts from bots today alone, so I'm thinking it might be worth the $8/year to use this.
