Upgrading my Dell.
Upgrading my Dell.
Shell is gonna need a laptop soon and the only way i can live with that is if i drop a few bucks into my machine too.
It has 8gb ram but can go to 16gb.
How do i find out what kind of ram sticks i need.
Also i wanna put a cheap little graphics card in but i dont wanna spend much.
Problem with i dunno what kind to buy.
Keep in mind i have a smaller sized computer case.
What size case is this?
What kind of graphics cardz fit?

Re: Upgrading my Dell.
DDR3 ram, and as far as video cards it has to be slimline in that case.

Re: Upgrading my Dell.
if you take the cover off you can fit any card in there that the PCI slot fits.
Thats how I have my AI server setup. heating is controlled with a boxfan sometimes but the system fans seem to work most of the time.
just buy what fits in the motherboard and wont fall out from being too heavy

Re: Upgrading my Dell.
I am going to look into all this after the new year.
Due to my outrageous $281 electric bill I am now piss poor.

Re: Upgrading my Dell.
If I happen to get a THIRD GPU for my AI training/gaming rig Ill send you my old gtx780 i think it is. it can run ARMA3 at a reasonable setting actually and can at least run fallout 3 on highish settings.
although the cpu on that one was an 15-7400 so that might have helped

Re: Upgrading my Dell.
You really might as well look into it now and have a really informed decision when the time comes. I had to wait like a month before I even settled on what I wanted, then another 3 weeks after that to GET what I wanted. Totally worth it though, because for $170 I got hardware that blows my old shit out of the water, and has enough room to upgrade that I'll be running this rig for at least 5 years.

It won't work in your case or with your PSU, but okay. Have fun with your paperweight
