Diablo II Ressurected

Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more!

Diablo II Ressurected

So this went on sale for $35 (with Diablo III) and I decided to check it out since I loved Diablo II LOD, and my new GPU should have fun with it, and this is absolutely a prime example of what a remaster should be. It's basically the original Diablo II engine with upgraded graphics and sound. The only actual difference I've noticed besides aesthetics is that you can set it up to automatically collect gold which is nice, and it has full controller support which actually felt good in the 5 minute I tried that.

It has 'legacy mode' which can be activated on the fly to give you the OG graphics, but honestly, it looks so much prettier in wide screen with full resolution graphics. Only thing that's really fucking me at this point is either my screen or my card caps out at 1080p so I can't see if 4k really makes a difference with Diablo II, but if it's the same jump from OG to HD it probably does.

In closing: I highly recommend getting this if you're an OG Diablo II fan.

Bonus: It's compatible with OG save files.

Yeah I got this a while ago when it came out. I played it for a bit but it's just been on my back burner. It's just like I remembered the original game being. The ability to switch graphic styles is fun too.

Right? And the Gonzo thing about it is that it's exactly how I remember it. Like, 20 years ago when it came out I remember it looking that pretty.
