If you're an animator, you've jerked off to your own work. It was much worse in the pre Cal Arts days though.
So many people just make it so....Obvious.
Well it shifts really. For example if you look at old toons it's pretty sign of the times type stuff. The man is super muscular, females are often need of saving ect. If you look at little girls in Don Bluth movies and toons you start to see a gross sexualization of the little girls in it. Nowadays it's all animators that have been through the college system so you get garbage where the man is fat and stupid and the woman is super competent and everyone is noodle armed and unrealistic. Examples being things like adventure time, steven universe, or the new thundercats show.
No, 12oz mouse and Tom Goes to the Mayor were lazy.
Yes, that reminds me of old South Park. Not all lazy animations are bad, but a lot of lazy animation turns out to be bad. The cal art animation style is the popular way to animate currently. I grew up with things like The Maxx or Aeon Flux so when I see now simple the animation is now, I kinda get turned off.

See, now THAT seems lazy to me. Sure, it looks pretty, but everything looks like an individual cell.
