Biden has also said shit like "Poor kids are just as bright as white kids."
He wrote & pushed racist bills that hurt african americans and oppressed them more. Jailed them and trapped them in our "justice" system. He's walked back campaign promises and is shooting not for the moon or the stars with the "progressive" policies he's begrudgingly adopted, but instead for the 711 down the street with his half-assed measures.
But if I criticize him suddenly I'm a Trump worshiper, even to my own family like my Grandma.
Just like I can't be for men's rights without being a misogynist, even tho I spent the first 20 years or so of my life as a man and while my experiences as a transwoman have helped shape me, I didn't fundamentally change in a philosophical sense by realizing I was trans. Men's issues are still important to me.
I'll crow about the damage the Right has done any day of the week, but the inability for moderates to recognize anything other than "moderate" and "literally hitler" are just as bit of an issue. They alienate everyone - including those they need to vote for them (like POC). Here is a quote from MLK I often think about.
“I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that [our] great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; …”
Related, another by MLK:
“The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict…[an individual] who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it”
Moderates, the cowards, are letting our country decay because they want to uphold the status quo. But the status quo lead to foreign interference and a treasonous congress that's protecting their own treasonous actions, and with us common folk having no way to do anything about it besides...vote. And the elections are rigged on both sides, have no doubt about that. There's some clear fuckery with races like McConnell's and Graham's, shit like Bush v Gore. Hillary v Bernie in the primaries, Bernie v 20 democrats.
This division is on purpose. Race, religion, LGBT hate, even misogyny & misandry, it all loops back to divide and conquer. And it's working. So many people latch on to obvious snake oil salesmen like Trump, just as so many latch onto Biden and Hillary thinking they'll fix all the problems when they won't, don't, and never intended to in the first place. Like Obama, who, while his super majority wasn't actually 2years but a few random days here and there due to a variety of reasons (still had it at times, tho...) compromised right out of the gate by adopting Romneycare instead of pushing for Universal Healthcare immediately. Compromise, only to compromise further. Obama clearly never intended anything other than a corporate win.
Here's a final quote, one Frank Herbert penned for Children of Dune, the 3rd book in his saga:
"Governments, if they endure, always tend increasingly toward aristocratic forms. No government in history has been known to evade this pattern. And as the aristocracy develops, government tends more and more to act exclusively in the interests of the ruling class---whether that class be hereditary royalty, oligarchs off financial empires, or entrenched bureaucracy."
If y'all like the political/philosophical quotes, I've been collecting them here.
