Putting politics aside, they basically just took money and gave it to people they wanted to give it to. Don't use GoFundMe.

Nope! Ever look through any EULA or ToS? One of the most common and best lines of any ToS is the "we can change this at any time for any reason without telling you" line. Patreon tried something like this a few years back and they quickly went in and did some stealth editing in their ToS. People could take their cases to arbitration and pay 200 dollars on their end and have Patreon pay 2000ish dollars on their end. Tens of thousands of people were doing it costing them millions of dollars so they just went in and changed the ToS. GoFundMe is now getting tons of bad press though and people are likely going to band together and do a class action lawsuit.

Yeah there was a bunch of big lawyers and politicians who threatened them with lawsuit so they just went and refunded everyone's money without having the people requesting it.

The real shitter is how GoFundMe allowed fund raising for antifa during the Floyd riots and didn't say a word.

It just sucks because, like, crowdfunding it trashy, don't get me wrong, but at least they weren't Indiegogo
