But I'm coming here more and more and having to refresh the page 4 or 5 times before it will actually load.

Apparently CloudFlare wasn't playing nice with phpBB (it's a known issue apparently...?) so all I had to do was disable that.
One more reason why I'm looking to upgrade and get off the sinking ship known as phpBB
