Should I get an old 1200 baud commodore 64 modem

Yeah I don't have a land line and I even have a wireless modem for my c64 that's 1000x better, but I feel like it would be cool for my C64 setup.

Yeah, I would simply for collection purposes. I doubt in 2022 a lot of people are after them to use, and there's probably not a lot left.
