Whew I could go on for hours talking about my all time favorite place in the country to visit. The food, the booze, the loose women. All of it is a delight for the senses and a sledge hammer blow to your wallet.



This rather photogenic scene is Jackson Square. Behind me is the famous Cafe Du Mond. They sell powdered donuts called beignets. This place is always packed as it is open 24/7. Go super early or super late to actually get a table. The beignets are reasonably priced also.

As it is during Mardi Gras when I took these pictures, this is a common sight. Colors, streamers, and tons of beads that you think are cool your first day or so when you visit. By the end of things you hate the things and wish that people would stop chucking them at your face.



One of my favorite parts of being in the French Quarter is the utter lack of respect people who live there have for the people who visit. They literally booby trap their walls around their properties. Often times with broken glass or rotating metal spikes as you can see.



I suggest everyone visit this place at least twice. Once when Mardi Gras isn't going on and once when it is. Be warned though, there are scammers, grifters, whores, drug dealers, and pick pockets everywhere and they can spot a tourist from a mile away. If anyone says "I bet I can guess where you got those shoes" keep walking. Never give money to any homeless person, and never get in a fight.

I'd go more often if I could. Mardi Gras is only one thing to do. You can also go for Voodoofest or Jazzfest. If I had the money I'd move there for a year and live directly in the quarter. After 12 months of insanity I think I'd never want to come back though. The shit I've seen just walking around in broad daylight is enough to make you shake your head.

Mardi Gras would be awesome. If I can ever pony up the money I'm going for sure. But yeah, I've heard it's fucking wild down there.

SUPER cheap food, I can feed myself all day on good food for 10$

keep your hands and mouth to yourself unless you are being nice and you are NOT intoxicated and you'll have a great time. open your mouth and let the shit out to the wrong person and they will rob you lol.

you can get a 30 minute power massage for 10$ here, great for pulled muscles in your left shoulder that feel like knives.

oh yeah, the police are so busy here they could give a damn about you unless you are doing something stupid. the best phrase Ive heard a cop say here:

"DO NOT make me do my job I just started eating, if you make me do my job, YOU are my job and I will do YOU"

oh and residents get to visit the audubon attractions for free

Dude, that's awesome. Like, pretty much how I pictured it. I think Trailer Park Boys Abroad did an episode where the went to New Orleans and it looks chill. That's where all the Cajun food is, yeah? That shit looks bomb.

and every sunday under the claiborne overpass there is ALWAYS a party all day long with food trucks, fast cars, loose women, and loud music.

I forgot to mention that there are literally random ass parades that happen down major streets where the cops shut down the road as they pass and sometimes they dont even tell the police about the parade... they just go!

Second lines. 300 bucks and you can fuck traffic up on a 3 hour notice.

No, shit got fucked up during the server move and it's gotta be re-introduced a certain way or it won't work. I've been assessing risk/reward on what to do, and just recently decided I'm going to try to keep Piwigo. I barely was able to get the BBS to migrate.
