Jars

People don't realize how useful a jar is. You can get BALL jars for cheap at your local Kroger, but sometimes you want something... Bigger. A good place to look for large, one gallon jugs or jars is the thrift store. Thrift stores are great for these types of things and if you're lucky, you may even find a six gallon glass carboy. These are the things you often see people putting change in. They used to use them for water machine jugs but then switched over to plastic. Glass carboys are great for making wine.

There are a ton of neat things you can do with glass jugs/jars.

Glass can't get eaten by chemicals so it's a wonderful material. I have one half filled with brake fluid for doing 1-man-bleeds, and have heard it's good for spark plugs to sit in gas while the vehicle is being stored.

One neat thing you can do with jars or jugs is build an enclosed terrarium. If you work it just right you won't even have to open it. It will create it's own eco sphere. Oopsie, posted the pic twice.

You can do that with really big jugs too I guess. This one dude made one early 1900s and it's only been opened once because the original seal was failing and it needed water.

Sweet terrarium.
I've been wanting to start some bonsai trees. Which reminds me, I need to get my ornamental seeds started as well. I'm glad that you posted this, I had completely forgotten.
