How is hot merchandise located online

If someone was to try and sell stolen merchandise online on ebay etc.. how would they avoid detection? What would be the best it's to sell it if someone was to... How is merchandise tracked barcode etc? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Far as I know, only the very specific and large things get identified. I've never seen a hard drive or video card get pinched from being sold on eBay. With that said, you could get reported if you decide to steal something, leave it in its box and shrink wrap, and then sell it. I know computer stores keep an eye out and match inventory loosely to ebay. For example, big ticket item gets stolen from computer store, loss prevention searches for ebay, then they see the item that they lost up AND it's sold from the area that you stole it from.

Video games/ movies are low risk, so are small electronics. Stuff that is 50$+ I'd stay away from. Also, people commonly contact pawn shops when there things are stolen, so pawn shops can be tricky.

Not all. Around where I live there's a sketchy bike store that will buy bikes left and right, they don't give a shit.
