Re-introduce yourself Megathread

People either grew up to have nice families or trouble with the legal system… and I know neither benefits from some of the very personal or illegal things there being shared widely. I think some stuff should be more publicly available though. I’ve learned things just putting together a detailed timeline… and some comments said off-hand just aren’t true. I wish there was a middle ground between Wikipedia and encyclopedia dramatica’s Totse entries. ED with less dicks, more references.

The history is just interesting to me. For anyone that managed to not blow themselves up or OD, I’m sure this was very formative to a lot of people in a positive way.

I’d love to see a far-too-long documentary about these old forums in the vein of the BBS documentary by Jason Scott.

I still talk to firekitty from time to time and she mentioned something that I hadn't thought of, Totse is from a different time all together. We were young people then in an internet that wasn't nearly as serious as it is now. Do you really want to dredge up the past and get people in trouble? If you're looking for just history, I can give you what I know.

I no longer have Meta’s album downloaded any more for example… but it wasn’t exactly hard to find.

Yeah, when we switched to vBulletin it turns out the version of phpBB was too new and my version of vBulletin was too new for the official migration script (Impex) to work, and I don't feel like spending $1500+ paying someone else to do it when it's like 4 active members. The alternative was to leave the old BBS in place as an archive to what New Totse has accomplished.

Nothing to reintroduce. Long time lurker way back when. Myself and my fiance stumbled across TOTSE in a convo when I brought up the topic of garage rocketry. I saw the archive, and found this.

I like 3d printing, firearms, energetic assistive devices for mining and am going to be dabbling in some amateur BLoS camera bearing aircraft, locksport, and car tuning.
