  • The space between awake and asleep

Last night I was about to fall asleep when I heard a woman screaming in my ear. Of course it woke me up but when I became aware, there was no screaming. The logical part of my brain would connect this to exploding head syndrome https://my.clevelandclinic.org/healt...%20the%20night. But the illogical part says that I've had EHS and it never sounded like a woman screaming in my ear. Through out my life there have been a lot of interesting things that happen at random between asleep and awake. Some would say that's where the barrier between worlds is thin. I will research this and come back to it.

I like the space between asleep and awake more. Stephen King described it pretty well in one of his book. The main character is dreaming of a freight train coming towards him over and over and each time it sounds a little more janky like it's going to fall apart and is getting a little closer every time until it finally hits then he wakes up and realizes it was his kid pushing a roller skate around.
