Default Re: Guro: wtf.

After reading this over and over again, I'm still trying to find a real point to this thread. You've expressed your dissatisfaction and disapproval of guro in as many or as little words as you wanted, yet a valid point has yet to surface.

From what I could gather, you seem unapproving of the forceful aspects of it, the taking of free will (i.e. rape). You speak of glorification, so are you talking about shock bands bands or visual kei? Explain further if you could.

You also said you condone shitting dick nipples, but you don't condone guro. They're one and the same so you're running around in a hypocritical fashion

As per you saying that your knowledge is incomplete of it all, you have to understand the origins of that which you resent. Being a more repressed and uniformed nation of people, things like guro came about as a way to express desires and fantasies that they couldn't do in the first place and wouldnt't be considered socially acceptable outside of a fantasy world. Rape, disfigurement, scat fetishes etc etc are common place in the realm of anime and fetish type adult videos. It's also the difference of ideology that they continue with, lacking the strict rules and justification of western type religion. You won't see breasts in kid shows in the western world, but they're a common sight in the east where it's not considered a taboo.

In a way it makes perfect sense. If you lived every day in a world where the people are almost identical in so many ways (straight black hair, similar body types, uniforms, facial structures etc etc), wouldn't you want to have some way of acting outside the norm, to establish a pseudo unique train of thought? It's why their exists social "cliques", groups of people with a like mind thusly giving birth to things such as Yankee style, Ganguro, and Fruits (fruits is an elaborate fashion style, not a happy slur for homosexuals).

If you would like some more easily digestable information and would prefer not to read and experience things in a more visual fashion, I point you to tv-links.co.uk, for a british show entitled "Japanorama".
