... and Rock and RollAll things music and music related. Listening, Buying, Selling, Making, or Breaking. Recording, mixing, sequencing, and amplifying. What tech to use and how to use it to make music.
I just bought a keyboard, and was wondering if anyone else played it and had tips or good sites to point me to. I'm a total noob, so any help would be appreciated.
Basically just like any other instrument learn the basics along with some songs and that's it. It would be good if you got started in theory first, so learn sheet music, chords and scales and go from there to finger positions and what have you.
Just go to the nearest music store, find the keyboard/piano section, and ask the attendant there what they recommend for a beginning, self-teaching book. Almost all employees are musicians, so they should be able to help you.
Try to know what the keys sound like. Like when you hear a tune or song you would be able to think about what all the notes would be. Some good ones to start out with would be the Jepordy theme or the Mario bros theme.
