Traveling Job?
Like the thread title states, whats a good Job that involves doing a lot of traveling? Im at the point in my life where I need to choose what I want to do for a career and unlike most of my peers who are shooting for local high paying jobs, I just want a job where I can see the world. I don't care if I don't make tons of money just as long as I can see some exotic locals and such.
Ive always wanted to become a journalist or photographer for National Geographic but that seems a little far-fetched. So do you guys have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Traveling Job?
It's not really that you can just say "I want to be a kick ass photographer" "ooh really, you're hired" no, you need credentials, you need a portfolio, you need to be able to proof that you have skills.

Yeah, getting proof that your a good photographer would take time. However I just want to do something adventurous for a living. Like how hard could it be to be a journalist or something and work with a magazine where you have your own travel articles?
I was thinking about becoming a reporter and going to conflict zones, it would be dangerous but fun and adventurous. Or possibly an ambassador. Do you guys have any suggestions other than the military that could take me to many parts of the world where I can just dive right in to what I do and have a good time? I don't care if I don't make lots of money just as long as I can see the world and meet many new people.

Re: Traveling Job?
again, to become a reporter or journalist, you need credentials, usually a degree in cultural science or proof that you are a good writer and that you have written for another magazine. If only it were so easy to say that you are good.

Yes thats true, however I have seen on CNN a lot colleagues of professional reporters such as Anderson Cooper and the late David Bloom. I'm sure if you were a good enough student you could become a colleague of a reporter for a few years, albeit with a lot less pay, but you get to jump right in the action with not much experience.
However I was wondering what kind of jobs are associated with an international affairs major. If someone could shed more light on this major for me that would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Traveling Job?
You could work for an international NGO.
It couldn't be too hard to get the work, because, from what I've seen, 95% of them do fuck all.

Pick up a trade. If you're willing to work and learn languages, you can work anywhere in the world and make decent money.

I was thinking about doing international business or something and then mabye later on in life I could teach English in foreign countries. It would be nice however it doesn't seem very "adventuristic". What jobs would be just totally kick ass fun but not so hard to be qualified for.
I thought mabye working for a NGO like red-cross or doctors without borders. My language skills could take me to various locales such as Latin America, Africa, and some parts of Asia.
