Slip n' sliding down a waterfall will get you killed, and the only reason Bear Grylls would even THINK about doing that nonsense is because he knows he has a camera crew with him who can get him to safety in the (very) likely event that breaks a limb while doing one of these stunts.
Both shows are entertaining, there's no question, but I don't like the idea of them passing off Man Vs Wild as a "helpful wildlife tips" show.

The fact is they're still shows, they're still for entertainment. I just don't find a fat man whining as interesting as a guy eating hand caught fish fresh from the river.

Pfft, you've obviously never been captivated by Les Stroud's harmonica playing.

That's the one thing Les does better than Bear. I'll give him that.

Re: Man vs Wild and Survivorman
When they're simply giving survival tips, I prefer Grylls. However, all that dumb shit he does for show annoys me. I know it's television, but this is one show where realism should be strived for. Jumping off cliffs into inlets and floating down a fast moving, large river are really not that realistic. I'm not even going to get into his penchant for climing waterfalls or scaling cliff faces.
I think Bear is definitely the better personality and way more hardcore though. If his show was set up like Stroud's show is, then he'd definitely come out on top.

Who would you rather be in a real survival situation with? I think you know the answer.
Do you really want to climb down that waterfall?

Re: Man vs Wild and Survivorman
I like both shows. It's two different guys so of course they have different approaches, both are valid but to answer the last post... if I were stuck in a survival situation with one of 'em, I'd rather it be Les Stroud. He'd be better to talk to and he's more practical and cautious. I think Grylls might be a little more crafty though, he always sets up nice shelters.

Re: Man vs Wild and Survivorman
Survivorman is way more useful and realistic, but it is MUCH more entertaining watching a man named fucking BEAR eat a raw zebra carcass.

Bear of course. Les would annoy me, pulling out his harmonica every chance he gets. Plus Les would get tired after walking a few miles and want me to carry him.

As for who has it harder, I'd say it's even. Yeah Les has to set up his own cameras, and carry his own gear, but he also gets his little survival pack every week. He could live off the food in the pack if he had to. Bear doesn't have to carry anything, or film himself, but he doesn't have a survival pack either. Plus he goes into much harder places to survive(Top of a volcano/ African plains).
Who's more bad ass? No question. Bear Grylls is the man. Former S.A.S - Bad ass! Climbed Everest - Bad ass! Broke his back and still climes just about anything - Bad Ass! The stuff he eats and drink just to show people what they could do if they need to - Bad ass.
And the all important question; Who would win in a fight! Bear Grylls!
Saying all that, I still love both shows.

he is pretty bad ass. maybe even more than les stroud in some ways. but theres just something about les i like more. idk, maybe its because hes canadian, and i always liked canadians.
britts are cool too i suppose but idk, i dont like your silly accents.
